Propeller pitch

I have read a lot of posts in this forum, and everyone seems to use propellers in the 6-8 inch range. I assume that is the diameter of the propeller? Why does no one mention pitch? Do you all use the same pitch? If so, what is the pitch you use?

The pitch/diameter ratio for most of the props here is around 1

6”-7 dia and 6-8” pitch is what i’d say is typical.

Ahh, that explains it. Thanks. Is there a particular reason why there isn’t more focus on pitch? I would think that the weight of board + rider varies a lot measured in percentage. Changing pitch could potentially have a huge effect.

Sure, i’ve tried from 4-8” pitch, it makes a difference but i guess the balance has to do with the wings too. You need to reach enough speed for your wing to fly (=can’t go too low in pitch) but need enough thrust to get the propeller into the efficient range without spending too much current (=can’t go too high in pitch)

I think that’s why it narrows down to a tight range regardless of the wide span in weight.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks.
