Should I buy this?

Currently building another Fliteboard DIY setup but using a Fliteboard pro this time. Never purchased a GONG setup so kind of unsure whats what besides what I’ve read here. Ran across this and thought it may be a good fit for a Fliteboard pro. I have efoil experince buy by no means a pro. Just care about cruising right now. I have a 70cm aliexpress on my 100L Fliteboard and its great. Thoughts?

Its only a 65cm mast for one thing which I think it too short.

I have been this setup on 85cm and usually the L or XL setup

I really like it. Gong stuff is 1st class.

Kind of a short mast and maybe too small a front foil to make easy transition to smaller PRO board. Depends on your agility more than anything.

Gong has awesome stuff for the $ so worth considering. Maybe price an extra mast at 85cm as an add on to order.

Suggest also researching a newer version to see price differential.

I think @windego runs a Gong curve so could provide a more informed opinion than mine.

I have the Foil Front Wing Curve V2 Small, with a Foil Stab Curve V2 (36cm) and a V2 75cm mast.
Loving it, and definitely not planning to change anytime soon!

Friends of mine run the M, and they’re having fun with that too, so if the S is too small, definitely go for the M.

I’m using it with the Fliteboard PRO Carbon (67 liters), but I have an Ultra ready to go.
This is all nicely mounted to my all in one Gong <> Flite board mounting plate.
Personally, I would not go longer than 75 cm on the mast.

Unfortunately, I tore my ACL again. This time in my left knee during ski race training, so I’m out for the summer season.
Getting a reconstruction operation next week.

I went from a 71cm to 85cm mast and the 85 is soooo much better. Lots of room to fly and never breach. I ride in chop a lot and the 71cm was a pita. No problem with stability on the 85 gong at all with 98cm span wing.

Did not know Gong made a 71cm mast.

I’ve noticed that a 85 gives more “flex” than a 75, but I do understand that if you ride on chop, a 85 might be better. I’m only riding lakes with almost no waves.

The 71cm was a core mast.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like im holding out for the time being as all the L wings are out of stock. Figured for the $$ maybe I couldve made that work.

Also has anyone in the US ordered one of these recently?

In accordance with new trade regulations:

• U.S. customs may apply an import duty of up to 145% depending on the type and origin of the ordered products.

• Any order with a customs value exceeding $800 cannot be shipped. The customs value is the total value of the products and shipping fees.

If payment of these duties is refused and the package is returned, all incurred costs (including shipping fees for both directions and any potential customs fees) will be deducted from your refund.

I heard on another forum that a usa customer got dinged bad since the goods from gong in some cases are china origin so be carefull

I know thats what worries me. US just reached an agreement for 10% so hopefully that helps. I message GONG but havent heard back yet.

I believe the USA and China agreed to lowering their respective tariffs for 90 days.

USA went from 145 to 30
China went from 125 to 10

So USA “importer” would be subject to 30% not 10

EDIT:

Unless the Flipsky “import” falls under the “de minimus” rule which was recently made 120% and then just a few days ago reduced to 54% and a max package fee of $100.

Chose your random number generator on what “extra” you might have to pay!:flushed::face_with_raised_eyebrow:
