Because 18-20S setups the XT-90S has limited lifespan as an anti spark, and according to Ludwig with his setup it last one connection, also the MakerX G300 needs a smooth supply curve as a reccomendation therefor requiring some kind of antispark.
Sure, at that high voltage the resistor is too small.
Ordered the stuff from Gong Galaxy at a black friday discount so essentially got the storage bag and screws for free, no shipping aswell!.

Further updates on the project, I was finishing some other PEV projects of mine, but I have the Gun Case and the parts at hand, the foil obviously also available, now all that remains is mostly remote, motor and the battery pack.
Right now the aim is to have a black and teal theme gonna 3d print the remote in Glassfiber reinforced ASA in teal to have a little two tone design on this, BKB Remote (hopefully the gun case so it can have a single 21700 cell in it), right now the motor seems to be 65161 as Flipsky no longer sell the 70165 and Battery pack is just ordering the cells rest of materials I already have .
I will post more updates when I have 3d printed the mount and started working more on the gun case.
It might be worth emailing Flipsky about the 70165 if you are interested in that motor.
Flipskyâs website seems to occasionally delist some products. But if you search they still appear and seems like you can buy it. So not clear if itâs really available or their website has issues. The 70165 can be found:
Oh thanks for the headsup, I will consider it again then, started feeling lazy and a bit happy having not to modify the mount files to fit the slightly larger motor, so might still go for the 65161 one, however there is a âsaleâ but nothing I want is on sale so I will wait for new year / christmas and see if there will be a sale later
Which resistor do you use? Do you got a link?
Is it like this one?

A little update before new year is coming along
Motor Mount: I have now scaled the 3d model of motor mount by jkoljo, to fit my flipsky 70165, it is now ordered, and I will share my remix when its printed and fitted to confirm all is as it should be.
Cells: I was weighing between Bak 45D vs. Samsung 50S 21700 Cells but I did some basic math of overall weight and came to the conclusion my build will be a monolith no matter how I do and I can focus on weight savings if I want a different board, plan is now to run 20s6p with Samsung 50S cells, was thinking 20s4p and comparing the cells where the Bak 45Dâs would been the better choice but for this particular build, however since we are going for âefficencyâ when on a foil and range I went for the bigger pack and weight is not optimal in this setup either way.
Motor: Interesting when comparing the numbers provided by flipsky besides the higher max wattage of the motor, according to the numbers from flipsky themselves it seems the 70165 has lower resistance and inductance, which could make it slightly more efficient during high load runs and high speed runs, something I will measure closely with a METR logging everything, to compare to other setups.
Controller: Right now this setup does not have a dedicated controller, I have extras lying around but they are not waterproof so theyâre only good for bench testing, my goal is to get the BREmote however, they were out of stock on Openfoil so most likely will wait for the restock next year, I saw someone make a custom pistol like case for it that could house a 21700 Cell which would fit this build however, it semt it wasnât a finished model so not sure how likely it is to be done when I need to have it printed.
Case: I started planning with the case, but will push updates as when actual work gets done besides ordering and share my work hopefully having something fully finished before spring comes around.
Prop: I ordered the 70165 with the stock flipsky prop which I know is trash, I will replace it but I will wait until build is more done to decide what prop I will install instead of it.
So modifying the Gong support mount took way more iterations to do than I would like to confess 11 versions âdigitallyâ and 6 printed ones in ASA-GF, didnât realise an issue or tolerance being an issue until printed, but now finally made a version which is compatible with the 70165 Prop and motor.
Here you can also see the issue with some of the Clearance for the prop as it âneedsâ too go a lot further in than probably than Jkoljo used this took me way too long to get right as the prop has everything but a good finish and it was hard to get accurate measurements.
For those curious itâs printed on a Voron trident, using 3D0âs ASA-GF Filament at 0.3mm layer height no supports needed.
As for next steps Iâm gonna test all the remaining modified parts before posting the full remix and then resin coat everything and sand it to give all 3d printed parts as smooth finish as possible and reduce drag and potential cavitation is the hope.
I donât think you need that tail support. It creates huge drag as well. Many of us run the 65161 without that tail support. I never coated my pod with epoxy or anything and my wh/km is good. Your prints looks gorgeous btw.
You also may find out that prop is no good. Its too much for the 65161 byt maybe ok for your bigger motor.
Thanks for the input, I will definitely print a non support version too, but for the first rides and first while I will try riding it with the support and then later maybe change, yeah this prop is gonna suck and I know it, will probably order the Eco-Drive - Twin drive from Propeller-King to replace it, but will get the foil riding before that point is the plan!.
You said my print quality with gorgeous, have some disgusting looking prints, tried to print a prop without supports only a brim as I was a bit cocky, sadly the propeller was too thin and flexed too much durin the print causing a lot of print defects.
It is reprinting now with supports, however I made a non supported shroud for it aswell, will print for the flipsky prop aswell, all of this just to get some comparision for later when I start riding.
