Start of a new Gun Case Build (Input needed!)

“the worst Efoil in the world”

Its an honorable title i think. You should Go for IT

Unfortunately, the title is quite strongly held by @elnillo

Hey Peter, that person writes to me as well.
I respond if it serves my purpose.

But he’s right that a high case is more susceptible to side wind effects. I know that from using a race sup

You are trolling Marcus? :grinning:

WTF :scream:
To what do you refere Jan???

Come on guys! None of you are even close to winning ugliest board challenge.

This wins in my book :grinning:

I still like it though! As long as it flies and you have a good time :call_me_hand:

You’re throwing a lot of shade in this build channel

As @Ackermann already stated he is a big, full grown man, he naturally throws a lot of shade

So first steps of this build is now taken and lets see where this will go, have ordered stuff from Gong now, I ordered mast and alike in the “fancy” turqiouse colour so some of the order will take time to come

Huge thanks to @ludwig_bre for supplying me with some of his extra parts, making my life easier!.

Have to say that the case looks awful for drag. I guess you could cover it somehow but why did you choose it? Did you get it from ludwig? If so, that surprises me a bit.

It’ll be interesting to see the power numbers in the end but you might need even more than the 6-8kW that his gun case needed.

It’s the same case the original inverters and I drive
I ordered two and now gave away the 2nd
6kW is enough for a rider with 70-80kgs

Someone designed some parts to make it more streamlined too, but I did not come around to try them yet

So an update to the build so far, so far not so much more has happened besides more studying of next steps and making some orders.

As you can see, I have decided to use the V3 Fuselage with the V2 Mast as hoping Gongs claims of improvements of V3 fuselage to be true, but also hoping for longer time I can buy spares or replacements.

Fuselage: Gong Foil Fuselage V3 59€
Wing: Gong Foil Front Wing Curve H V3 Large 459€
Stab: Gong Foil Stab Curve H V3 Large 179€
Mast: Gong Foil Alu Mast V2 95cm (Teal) 79€
Top plate: Gong Foil Top Plate Alu V2 (Teal) 29€
Fuselage Connector: Foil Aluminium Mast Fuselage Connector V2 Alu Mast to V3 Fuselage 39€
Hardware: Alu Foil Set Screw Kit 12€
Acessories: Tef-Gel 60g (anti sieze) 45€ and Foil allavater mast plug set V2 6€

I have decided I will order everything from Gong however, I did a misorder with the fuselage and some other parts as I didn’t realise what the compatability was and they didn’t cancel my order even though they said they would, so now I gotta send the order back and reorder.

As for now I am also planning to redesign a 65motor mount to fit the larger 70165 Motor I plan to install, also some more changes.

Remote: BREmote 60€ w. shipping (with Pistol shaped controller case), feels like right for this DIY build and “saving” some on the potential order from Flipsky
Anti-Spark: 20s capable Anti spark, Maytech or Flipsky potentially 90€
Prop: 3D printed Prop initially to figure out which form will fit my use case best with the bigger motor 2€

That is all and I will post next update when the Gong order is sorted out and I will start 3d printing.

90 eur for an antispark? Why not just use a 1eur resistor - and get better robustness?

On and off switch, better reliability and ease of use, I have resistors too but it’s something I dont want to fiddle around with while riding.

I use this switch in my build
Battery 1: Via 10R
Battery 2: Direct connection

Its a bulky and not water-tight switch but both no problem in a weaponcase

That’s a fun solution will consider it

To each his own but i don’t see the logic. Why would you use it while riding? And the fiddling, a 5 second manoeuvre at most, plug resistor or precharge, plug main. Reliability would not be better with a switch, resistor will last the lifetime of the board, but switches have been popping like popcorn on the forums.

One of my powerhouses of Esk8 has same Antispark, ran it for 3 years and 6000km’s no issue so far with it and same with my e-moped, same setup no issues, I just like clean and practical builds, however thinking Ludwigs design is also a good way of making it.

We all have our favourites but unnecessary electronics and more cost? Why not just an antispark connector? At lower voltage my experience is that they work well.
