Hi guys,i just put in my efoil build today for the 2nd time, alibaba board,vx3,65161 motor and armstrong mast and foils.
My question is this, the vx3 remote only has 3 gear modes i.e low medium and high and are not adjustable.
So found it really hard to get up on plane as am 110 kgs, medium isnt enough but high is too much plus i have a very large front foil so wants to.pop up really early.
Really hard as im goofy and right handed so hard to keep trigger in just the right spot…whilst standing up.
The vx5 i believe can be programmed for up to 15 gears is that correct and if so how do they work as there is no up and down button.
I know you can adjust the low medium and high percentages as well, but really would like to know if anyone has experience with the virtual gears.
Ps also a pic of my board for fun, goes really well and very quiet with the flite prop.
hi amo
probebly your biggest problem is the board
not enough volume (i gues you beginner?) wil be hard to start like this
vx 5 you can put gear in L M H (like the vx3) and manual up tp 20 gears
you can change gears by pushing a button (right side under )
if the board nose coms up you must place front foot more forward on the board. (and back foot also more forward)
and learn how to control the trotle. (no need after start to pull the trotle all the way in)
Hi there
Thanks for the speedy reply, the board has heaps of volume to be fair it doesnt sink too much ,the problem is the front foil is 2400 cm/3 and is really hard to keep down even with my weight at 70% throttle.
And because i am right handed and goofy its a real pain as the throttle is really sensitive, i think with virtual gears not just high low sort of thing you could just set it and floorvthe throttle then adjust it when on foil.
So you say there is a button underneath? And this allows gear control like the fliteboard and some of the other high end boards.
I started out with a similar size foil and had all kinds of trouble. This size is really too big to be a viable. Your issue of throttle control is about that foil making things really twitchy so you never really have a chance to settle in.
Getting a VX5 is a good idea anyway as it’s proving to be reliable and I find the trigger movement on it to nicer than the vx3 that I used for quite a long time. Either remote will work for you but I would recommend you invest in a smaller front foil and start having fun.
