Waterproofing Saite 6384 Motor

Hi folks,

Thanks first for all the info provide here and advice on my building.

As a water sports enthusiastic but quite ignorant on building electronics projects I have decided to do a bench model with the parts first so I can have a better understanding of electronics and VESC programming.

After some research and advice I decided to go with a design similar to the Foil Drive Assist Plus Gen 1 with 8s3p batteries and use a 6384 Saite motor. I haven’t decided the VESC yet.

For the motor, I could not find the option to buy a Saite 6384 waterproof motor. I notice Flipsky does offer a waterproof version of the 6384. So my question is, do I have to waterproof it myself or they sell a waterproofed version somewhere?

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere here but I could not find it.

Thanks,
OC

If you contact them, they will sell you a waterproofed motor. It is not cheap though.

When I asked, including shipping and fees it would have been almost double the price I paid for my Flipsky

Thanks mate. Are you happy with this motor?

I might have to go with Flipsky as I’m not very keen to spend too much on something I don’t quite understand yet.

Just buy the one off Flipsky but don’t use there prop as makes things very challenging with cavitation for a assist when prop entering exiting the water . Recommend bump up the cell count, most of us use 10s or 11s configuration.

I have no issues with the motor, but I don’t have another model to compare.
At first I was a bit concerned when there was tiny amount of rust pretty much instantly, but this has not changed into a problem after like 200 sessions.

I also have their prop. But replaced it with the FD one, due to recommendations here.

But honestly without running them back to back, I do not notice so much of a difference. The Flipsky one also easily got me going. So if you want to try stuff out without spending too much, it is a good option.
