Wax for potting electronics?

Since many of you have been doing this for a long time and this is never done, there probably are good reasons.

For me I see several advantages.

It’s cheap.

Easy to apply

Easy to remove

Reusable

Environmental friendly

One clear disadvantage is temperature. But if you assume your electronics stay below 45°C, what are the other reasons why wax is not used?

My father in law is a bee keeper so I had access to lots of bees wax. I tried using it for potting (motor mounts, and PCBs) but it tended to shrink and crack when cooled. Adding some parafin oil could help, but would also lower the melting temp even further

Prob fine as a bit of protection, but not as good as 2 part silicone.
