Waydoo Flyer hull only diy build with flipsky kit
What? Maybe some more context…
DIY advice for waydoo hull only to etow.
Please be patience as I am new to this format.
I want to know if e-bike batteries are a viable option or should I consider building a battery pack? the Waydoo hull that I bought doesn’t have a battery box cover as that is part of the battery and would be a problem to make a waterproof cover, so if I use a pelican case the box would be in the way of standing on the board for efoil use so is my best option to convert the hull to an etow? Any suggestions an advice would be greatly appreciated.
What do you want to achieve with the build? I suggest to think about your goals before starting to build „something“.
Search the forum, see what people built and more importantly in what environment they‘re using it. Assist, towboogy, efoil? Flatwater, ocean, etc. ?
Depends on the batterypack tbh. theres ebike batteries that definitely cant be viable and others than can.
Check what capacity a pack has. Ebike batteries usually have a BMS that limits them for our use-case but can be bypassed but then it’s up to what the cells can handle.
I built a Etow/Towboogie last year and before I had my final battery I used my 48v ebike battery but it had a BMS that could deliver relatively high amps so used it for a few weeks on the tow to know what kind of spec I wanted out of my final battery.
One thing I learned was the even my beefy (for bike use) 48v, 900h ebike battery was on the cusp of not being enough. With that little relative capacity and at the limit amp draw it voltage sagged badly at about 50-60% of battery so only got 20-25min runtime out of it. Im also lightweight.
