Waydoo Launching Foil Assist Product

It really looks like no effort was made to smooth out the shape, so boxy! There were images of this product about a year ago and seems they didn’t do much to it.
I’m sure the price will be lower and that will be one of its selling points.

I’m curious to hear how the front motor position compares to the normal rear position once people start sharing experiences with it.

The forward prop position isn’t a new innovation. Not sure if it has merit in this application. Waydoo solutions are a bit gimmicky imo.

Price mentioned in this vid is 3,000 euro

We are using in our electric boats ( 10m catamarans) both front and rear props ( on 10…80kW motors)

Front props are more prone to damage - due to their position. But you get a bit more efficiency as they do not have water stream disturbed by anything.

The front prop has less chance cutting the person when the board short

The Waydoo Foilboost availability announced “from April 2026”, price below 3000 EUR/USD. + 1000€ for a spare battery pair.

Translation from German site:
FOILBOOST das brandneue Foil Assist System von WAYDOO

Unit at 2580€ on the Waydoo site. Does it include VAT ? Probably yes but must be checked.

432Wh battery, looks like a 12s2p configuration. 3000 euros for the whole kit seems decent, but 1000 euros for a 12s2p is high.

Maybe their business model is focused on a “cheap” kit, and higher margin on the accessories and upgrades.

Re: drag, i think it actually looks okay. The batteries go on the side of the mast, like two very fat and short surfboard fins. Curious to see what user impressions are when it comes out

i always miss the technical specs. can run 30 min constant and up to 3hwith short boost is so meaningless.
if 432Wh and can run 30min constant it means the motor wil be like 864w or less .
if battery is 36v (no info) it means 12Ah .
all very weak i think. if u r +80kg ,big board, starter i gues you can not do a lot with it. also price al over the top. but looks like all the efoil stuff and gadgets are a very lucrative bussines .
battery for ebike of this capacity ca 200€, motor with capacity 800-1000w aslo like ca 200€.

Clearly you don’t know what you are talking about…

Ebike stuff is easy to build. Its marginally splashproof. Assists and Efoils need to stand up to abuse in the harshest environment so needs to be properly waterproof.

On foil assists, there is no constant power so there are times when consumption will be high and other times nothing.

just an opinion jezza.
math is correct
prices can be found online. (also waterproof)

Foilboost is fabricated pretty well. They showcased it at BOOT Düsseldorf in the Pool…
Spoke with the distributor, and he is confident they will have it in stock in April!

Looked pretty solid and worked well at half price of Foildrive …

Let`s put hands on when it finally arrives in April

A friend could finally get this foilboost and we tested it for several days now… works perfect. Thrust is more than needed and as assist it gives you about 50 take offs with enough power to get foiling and then go with the wing at low windspeeds :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Riding in efoilsetup (motor down near fuselage) with Axis 1050 png wing & 78kg is about 45 minutes which is quite amazing for such a small unit with less than 5kg weight… Feeling is about the same as Foildrive max with slim battery… Big advantage mastplate is connected directly to the board, no batterybox in between which feels a bit more stiffer in overall handling…
Give it a try and test it… there`s nothing comparable in this price range of 2500€ net. In my opinion it will take over efoilmarket… If you ride like a pro then you definately want to get rid of the heavy efoils and prefer the super light foilboards with an assist system!

What is measured total weight of such light board complete compared to a REAL efoil?

I see that as a disadvantage.

FD box is stiffer than any board in compression.
All it does is force you to use a longer mast at extra cost and weight.

And how do you arrive at EUR 2500?
As far as I can see, I would end up EUR 3079 with two blade prop and since you probably want the three blade it would be 3678 EUR.

Battery prices also near absurd at EUR 1200 for another set of 420 Wh.

Hello Jan,
well I already have a long mast and it’s my regular mast that I use for wingfoiling and it’s fine and the length of the system doesn’t change with foilboost… so I don’t need a longer one
Well it just feels a bit stiffer if there is no batterybox in between mast and board and with foilboost it is absolutely the same feeling as without the motor…
In Europe you get the foilboost for 2500€ net +tax but I don’t know something about a 3blade prop. Can’t find it in the major onlineshops waydoo.com or www.waydoo.tech Can you please tell me where you have seen a 3blade prop or where to order it?

Great if the system works for you.

Actually no. It acts as a spacer. FD want you to believe it acts the same but in reality it doesn’t. I can guarentee if FD brought out a design like Waydoo they’d say its suddenly better and so would all their influencers.
Having the mast closer to the board is better and you do feel more connected.

Also what up with you photoshopping 10kg onto that pic? The waydoo system weighs 5.6kg

Official European distribution.

I did not photoshop anything and would appreciate a bit more civil conversation.

The post above is full of odd claims.
Price is not EUR 2500, weight is not less than 5kg and there simply is no Axis 1050 png wing he claims to have tested the system with.

If you use that system you loose clearance to the water. A longer mast will always feel less direct and stiff than a shorter mast. Think length is 8cm?

I am convinced a 72cm mast with a 8cm spacer that is reasonably stiff, will feel about the same as a 80cm mast with that system.

Apologies, it’s strange they have messed up the weight. Its very clearly in the 5.6-5.7kg region.

Actually it is ±2500+tax which was said. He may have meant the PNG1150 or the HPS1050 which just comes down to a typo.

8cm mast a big difference in how a mast feels. Think axis 68cm vs 75cm. I have both and they fell very different.
Ultimately the clearance comes down to 2 things. does 80cm (75cm mast) clearance with FD under the board feel better than 80cm mast with Waydoo boost. It would be interesting to test both and see.

There is no mention of tax there.
Why would you even mention a price without tax?
It’s like saying gas prices in Germany are in the 80ct/l range.

If he is genuinely stoked with the product, great.
But why make up wrong facts and how can you not know which foil you use?

Your comments regarding the mast are true and the system is a clear trade-off. Better for some, worse for others (including me).
