Did anyone notice Waydoo is launching a Foil Assist product. It came up all over my Facebook. (https://eu.waydoo.com/products/waydoo-foilboost-assist-kit-for-foiling)
They don’t have 3 blades though, no doubt that will be an upsell’

Interesting. Might give Foildrive some competition depending on how they price it.
Don’t see the point of the pull direction though.
Prop wouldn’t fold in that orientation and I’m not sure how this would be better than traditional push mode. I would think that wave riding would involve some riding in disturbed water no matter what.
The complete contraption looks like so much drag, it is crazy. Not sure what they are thinking.
Especially now that many even use trench boards for foil drive.
But I can see upsides in the pull direction.
You have better undisturbed flow at the prop.
And it would probably completely eliminate the tilting effect, with the nose of the board coming up.
You also have the weight of the motor near the center of gravity for a more balanced system.
all sure this is real? on foto’s seagull it is pushing (motor at back) foto foilguy it is pulling… same system/company ??
i also see 2 different systems online even in 1 print
maybe made by AI
or maybe possible in 2 directions ?? ![]()

yes 2 ways possible top (looked at youtube film now)
Looks like it will create a lot of drag when entering the water, step back even from FD gen 2 max in that regeard
It really looks like no effort was made to smooth out the shape, so boxy! There were images of this product about a year ago and seems they didn’t do much to it.
I’m sure the price will be lower and that will be one of its selling points.
I’m curious to hear how the front motor position compares to the normal rear position once people start sharing experiences with it.
The forward prop position isn’t a new innovation. Not sure if it has merit in this application. Waydoo solutions are a bit gimmicky imo.
We are using in our electric boats ( 10m catamarans) both front and rear props ( on 10…80kW motors)
Front props are more prone to damage - due to their position. But you get a bit more efficiency as they do not have water stream disturbed by anything.
The front prop has less chance cutting the person when the board short
