I have a Waydoo EVO efoil. The Powerflight battery is defective. The battery display reports two informations regarding the issue:
- Battery installed improperly
- Battery temperature = -45°C
The temperature value seems to indicate a problem between the temperature sensor and the BMS. I opened the battery and realized that all the cells and the BMS are potted in resin. Only the external connections and the battery interface (display) are accessible.
Have you ever encountered this type of problem? I should mention that this defect has been present since I received the efoil. Waydoo sent me a new replacement battery. I am just trying to see if this broken one is repairable.

Look for PTC thermistors like these:
Specifically the large flat orange one, or you might find two small wires coming out of the battery which lead to one of these. If you check the continuity of these leads you may find one that is open indicating a fault - could also look around the connection point on the bms pcb. Share some pictures and we might be able to help more.

Thanks for the advice.
I also suspect an issue with the battery temperature sensor (a fault, a loose connection, etc.).
If you look at the photo (sorry, I can only upload one), you’ll see that the battery pack and the BMS (which the sensor is likely connected to) are housed in a resin-filled aluminum block. The only external connections are:
- The battery power terminals
- That detachable multi-conductor black cable (likely a communication bus between the BMS and the battery interface?)
You can also see a twisted pair cable (black/red): that connects to the buzzer.
I don’t know if anyone else has encountered this problem and managed to fix it; my only non-invasive option is to try updating the BMS firmware.
Otherwise, the only possibility is accessing the BMS—which means removing the resin—hoping that it’s only present on the output side of the battery pack.
