Hi,
which Gong foilset would you recommend for high speed turns/carving. Is a mid- oder high aspect ratio wing suitable? I am 80kg with 32kg efoil board.
Thanks!
Sounds like one of their Curve products is what you need. Pretty much all you need to make a decision here.
Gong will answer your question directly if you contact them.
Not really. Curve is slow.
Fluid or Veloce or Ypra are all faster.
I don’t think it should be HA.
I don’t disagree with your points but IMO the correct foil depends a great deal on how “ high speed turns/carving” is defined. Different mindset, different conditions etc can drive that definition.
Gong has gone to great lengths to describe how each foil works “best”. Up to @Albinoooo to read the content and make a choice that feels right. Asking the forum such a broadly defined question will just lead to a bunch of personal opinions that are driven by their “best” choice.
I have all Gong equipment for wing, pump and eFoil.
The descriptions on Gong website are also marketing and very plain.
But I agree that the question was not well defined.
One more resource:
They also answer great on Facebook. Many times to similar questions the boss comes and writes ai generated detailed response that is helpful.
The chart gives you a good idea. The more high aspect you go the thinner the wing the faster you go and the more glide you have but the long span of those wing make them slower to turn. I have the Gong X-Over L and Veloce XL the Veloce is bigger but thinner so it’s faster. The turning and carving is similar. I just got a Fluid H L a few days ago I’m hoping it will be faster and have more glide it is significantly thinner and smaller in surface but the span is longer. I may loose a bit in turning speed but I have been told it’s still a nice wing for carving. I will know next summer because it’s winter here.
