Hello everyone,
First of all, I want to thank this entire community for the incredible support and enthusiasm you have shown over the years. I founded this forum (originally efoil.builders, now foil.zone) together with my friends Don Montague and Tyler Clark on October 13, 2017, with the dream of making DIY efoil technology accessible to all. We now have thousands of builders around the world, and it has been an amazing journey to watch this community grow. I’ve never once asked for contributions or donations; I have always covered the forum’s expenses out of my own pocket, and your engagement has been enough reward for me.
However, today I find myself in an unprecedented situation. My rented home in the Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles California was completely destroyed by the recent wildfires. Everything I owned—our cars, my garage, tools, projects, and all the work I have poured my heart into—was reduced to ashes. It’s been devastating to lose not only my home but also the little workshop where I’ve spent countless hours designing and building efoils to share with you all.
I’m at a point where I need help to rebuild. It’s not easy for me to ask for this, but I’m reaching out to the foil.zone community to humbly request your support. Any donation, however small, will help me purchase new tools, materials, and equipment so I can get back on my feet and continue creating and innovating for our efoil community.
How to contribute:
I have set up a PayPal to collect donations. You can find the link here:PayPal.Me
Your generosity will go directly to helping me secure the basics to start over: replacing essential tools, rebuilding prototypes, and ensuring I can devote time to continuing the DIY efoil projects. Once again, thank you for all your support, whether it’s in the form of donations, sharing this post, or simply sending encouraging words.
This is new territory for me—I’ve never asked for financial help before—but I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a caring, talented community. I truly believe we’ll come out of this stronger together.
With gratitude,
Merten Stroetzel / “Pacificmeister”
