Just a quick update from our side
We’ve prepared new packaging for BREmote V2 and V2 Nano. It’s cleaner, better organised, and designed to further protect electronics during shipping. Small details, but important ones.
And the big news:
The BREmote V2 Nano will officially go on sale at the end of February, together with the launch of our new online store.
The new store will be simpler, clearer, and easier to navigate - something many of you have been asking for. We’re putting a lot of effort into making the whole experience smoother.

For those following along with the development here, I’m excited to announce that a massive upgrade is almost ready: BREmote V2.5 (Beta).
Building on the incredible foundation from LudwigBre and Janrusher, V2.5 is a huge leap forward. Here is a quick teaser of what is included:

Thanks Jasmin, I refer to this post about follow me mode for Tow Boogie, Universal foil assist / efoil / tow solution (2nd) - #134 by heiguga and the post above BREmote Kits for Sale - #125 by monter_man
I purchased and assembled the Bremote V2 as soon as it became available, and now I’d like to make it compatible with ‘‘follow me’’ mode, so I assume I need a Tx kit with a GPS in it. Can you please confirm the following:
- Will the current kits for sale fully support this Software branch?
- Will I also need a new Rx or can I use my existing?
- Is the option “GPS with Tx module conversion” the essential part of this?
- Do I need to buy a whole new kit or can I just upgrade some parts?
- If I do buy a new kit, can I use my existing Bremote V2 as a 2nd controller to share a session with a friend?
Maybe this is the wrong thread to ask these questions but from a less technical user I’m sure many will want to know these details? @ludwig_bre @monter_man
Monter man recommends specific GPS modules, openfoil supplies 2x BN-220, so please check the GPS modules required and order them yourself
Rx hardware is compatible, just need to add the right GPS to it
This will add 2x BN-220 as well as the GPS module cable soldering on TX to the order for you
You need to add GPS to TX, if you have potted it already you need to build a new one, otherwise just add GPS, so change the top cover 3d print and add the wires to TX board
All BREmote V2 is compatible

Sorry for the late reply, been traveling for work. Answering some questions and adding new info for everyone.
GPS modules:
- TX → BN220. (You’ll need to remove the potting and re-solder. If that’s not possible, get a new one. Be careful during removal, and test the GPS twice before re-potting, serial console has a few
"?gpsraw… commands.) - RX → BN880. FM and RTN modes need a compass, and this module is good and tested. (Available on Amazon.)
- New firmware also accepts other M10 chips, but these are coded only — not fully tested.
You can keep your current RX and wire the UART per the diagram on GitHub. I wrote very detailed instructions for connections and equipment compatibility — if anything is wrong or unclear, I’ll gladly add or edit it.
Take some time to read the docs: the TX and RX have many new modes and gestures, and the settings have roughly doubled:
Before you flash: V2.5-Evo uses a new config version, so you will lose all settings and have to reconfigure. Back them up first with the web serial config — use the base64 export, not JSON. (A JSON backup from an older build can be rejected on import; base64 is a raw
struct copy and always restores.) Defaults are set for safety, but read each one and confirm it’s right for your setup.
PS: I’m building a Nano V2 with a tiny M100 Mini GPS and will test that too, but it’ll take some time. My fork is here.
Still accepting donations to continue development and testing. (In the pipeline: multi-TX mode to share the buggy with up to 4 TXs.)
PS #2 — testing order: dry bench test → dock test → water. Bring your laptop and phone so you can check settings or reflash without losing a session.
Calibrate the compass — ?compasscal, or via the bind button (procedure is in the README). Then run ?magtest to see how much your battery wires and phase wires are disturbing the magnetometer; it can calibrate out the deviation for best performance. Mount the BN880 as far
from those wires as you can.
The RX also saves logs via the AUX button, with LED confirmation of logging mode — very useful for diagnosing your first rides.

I also have a prototype of an external GPS module running for my TX. It’s super simple and forwards GPS via ESP-Now.
That would eliminate the need to rebuild the TX.
The development situation is a bit too confusing for me at the moment, so I did not follow up on this. Currently do not have the time to do extensive water testing with the tow boogie.
But if someone wants that, I can easily integrate that in the latest monterman source. As it’s just a data source, this should be pretty low risk.
That approach would likely also work for the RX to
avoid EMF issues.

Will BN 220 not work with RX? I believe it has a compass as well.
I am currently testing with a M10 chip on rx and tx.
I hope that they provide better gps data since they are 2 generations after BN880…
I am from 20. - 31.8 testing in Medulin, Croatia, if someone wants to join testing…
Let you know my experience soon!
Pretty sure that is the best option currently.
I also think compass is completely unneeded for tow boogie. It’s not a drone that can turn without moving and once moving GPS CoG is more reliable anyway.
But we probably should not detail this thread even more.
I Agree, I coded to be compatible with the HGLRS M100 Pro (includes memory and compass) but have not tested the FW with it yet. My next build will have that one.
P.S.: I just pushed a small update, you can find new .bin files on my repo.
