BREmote V2 - Open Source Remote

Ok, so I am going to use the opportunity for a hint to everyone using the BREmote:

Before connecting your charger or PC to the remote, make absolutely sure the remote is dry. In doubt remove the slide-over handle and charge with that removed.

Hi Ludwig
I’ve been soldering wiring for dual esc with your supplied Bec for my tow boogie. On the diagram in git hub it shows from both esc’s there is ground, positive and signal wire connected to Receiver plus positive and negative running through BEC. I assumed that you would only run positive through Bec alone to RX.
Isn’t the positive running from maytech ESC still High voltage?

No, the positive on the signal wire from ESC is either 5V or not connected. Most cases not connected, so it does not make any problems if you leave the red wire. You can cut/remove it from the connector if you want, but you don’t need to

Hello @ludwig_bre

I struggle to continue the configuration of the TX because I have this message on the Serial Terminal . Any idea ?

Firmware broken
Upload firmware again

Thanks,

It is the last firmware V1.2, I will try with the previous one 1.1 and revert to you.

To be 100% sure. The Tx offset is always 0x0 instead of 0x10000 for RX ?

The offset is 0x0 for firmware with .merged and 0x10000 for firmware without .merged

Together with @Jan12 I included a battery saver function:

If there is no connection to the Rx for > 5 minutes, the remote will shut down processor and RF module and display a blinking “XX” at lowest brightness. In this mode, the power draw is so low, it can last about 1000h (40 days)

To go back to normal operation, just power off and on the remote once.

I tried with 1.1 and 1.2, here is what I have now

Hmm. Something seems to not work with your firmware uploading
Please record a short video of the whole firmware upload process you do, including starting the tool, until you open the terminal, and send me as PM

It was because I used the “non merged” file. Since I used the merged it works great.

One more GPS included Bremote V2 potted.and ready . Currently swimming in a sink to verifiy waterproofing :crossed_fingers:.

Waiting for instructions now to carry on with Follow Me function test.

What’s involved and needed for follow me system I have gps remote and tx about to install on my boogie next week but want to eventually go with follow me?
Thanks

I can tell you once the function is fully developed.
Basically you need a specific gps module in TX and Rx each and the right software

I have got the gps modules with Bremote so should be :+1:t4:

The modules previously sold are not compatible with follow me and also just from their size won’t fit inside the Tx

So what are those GPS modules used for?

They can be used for GPS speed indication on the display and logging where you went
