BREmote V2 - Open Source Remote

Thanks. I have two of the 14200 models already so will try those first to try and keep my costs down. :crossed_fingers:

Just a post to say my bremote is still going strong on the tow. I used it around 10-15 times, only fresh water so far, and some sessions only as a boat and not tow, so remote did not get wet.

Setup is currently with a silixcon controller, that has clear arming and disarming beeping, makes it very clean when signal is lost. I need to wire vbatt wire to get the battery scale back as I have no more vesc uart.

There are a few features I would like, let’s say it’s my Christmas list :

  • trigger guard
  • flat sides to have a stable base for pop-up
  • self floating
  • live steering trim (directly on the remote)
  • cruize control
  • of course interested in follow me but I will need to build a new remote with GPS.

Hi,

I am planning to build a new board with eps and carbon fiber. Will bremote v2 work if fully enclosed inside the board with layers of carbon fiber with the standard small antenna? Or do i need an external antenna or part of the board without carbon fiber for the radiowaves to penetrate ?

Jonas

Hi Jonas
For my board with thick carbon all around it works with the small antenna.
If you don’t want to reach long range >10m you should be fine without external antenna.

I’ve received my new RX I’ve tried to connect to serial terminal and all it shows is y??into deep sleep what does this mean? How come it won’t connect to RX and also tried to connect to TX and same thing?

Please update firmware by uploading the Rx merged firmware to address 0x0

I’ve done the integration should I do via 0x10000 or what you said

I’m not having any luck with these remotes at all I had it on and it was saying PA on remote I done flash upload 0x0 and now remote has gone blank and won’t turn on even whilst plugged into charge lead. I’ve plug in remote and connect to serial port and now it keeps rolling through a screen

I don’t know what to do now

Please make sure to upload Tx firmware to Tx and Rx firmware to Rx
And use the .merged files and upload them to 0x0

The last picture looks like you bumped or disconnected the cable mid-upload

Yes ok I’ve managed to recalibrate again it didn’t work first time. I’ve managed to get original controller to connect and motors working but it won’t allow to steer seems to stay in gear change mode. Steering is enabled on TX table

String is : AQACABYAAQBkABZAhB+sPiE2JC70AR4A9AGIE9AHZADoAwoAOAcAAAAABAAAAAEASwAyADIAMgBDrkI5AQAVWCAVWxA=

After a lot of swearing failures I’ve finally got it to work now. Tomorrow test to see if it even floats

Different handset version, but it floats like a stone with all the polyurethane filler inside. You need to add a floating wrist strap.

Hi,
Are the 3D printer settings for the v2 the same as the v1? BREmote/Mechanics/Tx/Combined/README.md at main · Luddi96/BREmote · GitHub
Any particular requirements for the 2 pack polyurethane potting compound, or is a general purpose one like this OK? UR5604 General Purpose Polyurethane Potting Compound - Electrolube
Is 250g likely to be enough?
Thanks.

The print instructions are mostly the same. There is a bambu/orca slicer 3mf file included with all print settings and information

If you want long range, it needs to be a specific kind, as the potting compound influences the antenna. It is tuned for HP R15GB

what are most tow boogie builders using with throttle curve Ive set to 75 and still too sensitive might just try 100 and see how it goes i guess

Hi Ludwig,
Is there anything I can do to bring this remote back to life. It won’t turn on anymore I think the usb got unplugged whilst uploading updates. Even when I have it plugged in via usb it won’t show charging or anything? I would like to use it as a second remote for my tow boogie.

I am assuming you are talking about TX?
You uploaded new firmware or just changed the config?

In any case try uploading .merged firmware to 0x0 address

Ok will try again thanks

I like the behaviour of my tow with 25% steering influence and 100 % expo for throttle and steering.
PWM range is 1200 to 1800 for the moment but I plan to use a larger range like 1000 to 1900 to have a smoother throttle reaction. For this config, with dual 6384 and 12S, I never go above the 8th gear.

At moment with these 6579motors from maytech I’m using 1000 low and 1900 high 100% expo throttle haven’t played with steering expo yet might try your setting for that. I’m on 14s 14p. And I had 4 gears but am going to try just 2. Is it better with more gears
Cheers
