Cable position - effect on ventilation

I want to share something that I figured out.
During my first rides with my foil assist I had problem with ventilation of the prop. The change in thrust was very heavy.
With a few iterations I camed to a setup where this is not a problem anymore.
What maked it working:

  1. the three blade prop from foil drive
  2. a cable guide that leaves a small gap between the mast and the cable.

I think that the gap reduces the amount of air that comes down to the prop. (like the good old anti spin out fins for windsurfers - the old boardheads may remember theses things

interesting! i had some ventilatin problems aswell and changed my cable guide to this:

I use tape around it. It does feel better, but i still feel like there could be room for improvements. I might try to get the cable closer to the mast. I have several of these in a row until the top.

Nice ! I supposed you were inspired by the Jan 2024 Mantafoils solution (2 years already ). The cable passage to the motor is in a rail with two sliding half-shells, which is held at the top and bottom. The cable is flat, or, like you, they can be placed inline to be streamline in a NACA profile.
