Hello again, everyone.
So, I bought this eFoil from Alibaba (I strongly advise against repeating this purchase — it worked twice for about 15–20 minutes each time, then simply shut down in the ocean with a full battery and never came back to life).
During my interactions with Alibaba, I came to understand the essence of Jack Ma’s success: the site says returns are available, but in reality — they’re not. Apparently, China is a magical place where you can say whatever you want, write whatever you want, break promises, and still enjoy life while deceiving millions.
Now, to the technical part — as far as I can tell, my eFoil consists of the following components:
-
Main body
Inside the body:
1.1. Battery -
Wing assembly
Inside the wing:
2.1. ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)
2.2. Motor
2.3. Propeller
my:
Propulsion, in turn, consists of the engine and the ESC.
Why does it cost as much as a car? No idea… But anyway
Possible reasons why it won’t run:
- Battery
- Motor
- ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)
- Physical damage
What I’ve done:
- Checked the battery — everything’s fine
- Motor — I don’t know how to test it
- ESC — I don’t know how to test it
- Physical damage — ruled out, nothing visible
Symptoms:
-
Even when it was still working, the remote showed this error:
This error is accompanied by a beep and controller vibration, and it repeats every few minutes (2–4 minutes). -
The remote didn’t show the charge level of the main battery (the one inside the board, not the remote’s battery):
But it still worked! Exactly twice, for 20 minutes each.
Now it doesn’t move at all.
- Sometimes, while riding, the battery level indicator would suddenly start working — but not always:
Since it became clear that no one’s going to honor the warranty, I started taking it apart myself:
I disassembled the entire board and unscrewed everything I could — found nothing inside except the battery:
Then I opened up the wing, and found two components: the motor and the ESC.
this is esc:
(no make, no model, nothing. no elements can be unscrewed)
Honestly — the ESC smells a bit strange, like something burnt… But anyway — how can I test which part is broken: the motor or the ESC?
I need to make a decision and fix this already.
I didn’t find any exposed wires to test with a multimeter… Do I have to cut them? Is there no other way to check?
