Don’t be afraid to think outside the box–literally. I had a hard time finding a comfortable box that fit my battery. And they usually have a lot of sealing surface just waiting to leak. This system has been working great for me. Rocket Man.

I guess I should consider posting a build thread. But I just built it without taking pictures of the process. I didn’t intend to derail this thread. I just went through different boxes before landing on a tube, so I thought I would toss it out there. I’ve never seen a tube foil assist anywhere.

Things slowed down a bit! Picked up a heavy infection and have’nt been able to foil since June.
I’ve also had a load of other stuff on my plate as I was lazy with another design which I wanted to patent the concept (idea I had years ago) and then another company released a version roughly a week ago on social media so now I’m behind a bit on that too.
I’m in two minds about the esc. If I use an external IP68 one then its fast and easy to finish. But I have loads of VESC’s here so there’s a part of me that wants to use what I have and not spend more money. But that may mean needing to dril extra holes in the housing.
Hopefully over the next few weeks I’ll get something together though!

I was thinking of using one of these but like you say, dont want to start drilling holes in a perfectly good box.
Might try and fit a sequre 12200 into the bottom.

I bit the bullet and ordered the 6.8 flipsky off ali express. I’ll report back once it gets here
External esc is really easy and you have no issues caused by the heat of the esc within the box:
This way two 15Ah racepow batteries fit in easy which means > 600Wh in 2kg! 
I will test my setups the next 10 days in the ocean…

Heavy PVC plumbing pipe with screw on cap also works fine for backpack. Good quality caps have O ring seals and are designed for high pressure.

What coil cable and connectors did you use?
I made my own coil cable with Oceanflex CM03/05 Tinned Cable. I wrapped it around a aluminium tube and then used a heat gun to heat it up.
On the connector side, I havent picked yet, but it will most likely be a Weipu SA28.
I’ve been designing some other stuff and where I normally ride and test has Blue/Green Algae at the moment so I’ve been pretty much landlocked which is frustrating.
Also debating on whether I should pot an existing VESC I have here or buy a IP68 off the shelf and use it. While I can make a very slick VESC mount to fit inside, I’'d like to keep heat away from the battery and also give the ESC/VESC better cooling by placing outside.

I also coiled the Oceanflex cable and reversed it but it still sags a bit. I’m now looking at some other PU cables. The thing i like about the CM03 stuff is that the cable has really good quality conductors.

Not sure where you are based, but if in UK there’s a company that makes coiled cables. They not expensive at all and you can ask for custom sizes.
Would that be Curly Cables in Kent?..ive sent then a message about getting a wider coil diameter so i can get a leash theough the center…Pretty reasonable cost too.

Yeah those are the guys. They seem pretty decent. I just bought the duotone leash to run inside my cable.
Smart …i might do the same…i was using a short windsurf uphaul which is similar…may revisit and get the duotone leash
