Flipsky vx5 remote

By the time I got everything set up, I was completely exhausted, both physically and mentally. As far as I understand, releasing the trigger and turning the handle starts one of the engines, and pressing the throttle activates both engines, and the speed depends on the turning angle.
The problem that was bothering me was the sudden start-up of one of the motors at random intervals. It turned out this was caused by accelerated wear of the connector retainer. I strongly recommend not using this connector; instead, solder the wires directly to the receiver.

I can understand the headache!! But congrats on getting it to function. First post here that got the VX5 working with IMU control!:grinning:

So if I understand the usage
Pull the trigger and you get both motors spinning same speed - result straight line
Don’t pull trigger - tilt remote to turn one engine on and amount of tilt determines rpm - result vessel turns.

What happens when you are in a turn (one engine state) and you pull trigger?

I’ll try to describe the differential control modes tomorrow.

I had a busy workday today, but I still managed to find an hour to get out on the water. Unfortunately, I failed. This was my first time using the FLIPSKY FT85BD dual ESC controller. I set it to 100 amps, but I didn’t have enough power to take off. I experimented with the IMU for a couple of minutes while on the board and realized that I either need to significantly increase the dead zone or only use the IMU when returning the tow. Accidental turns are accompanied by sharp, unpleasant jerks.
UPD.
Looks like I made the stupidest mistake. Instead of entering 100 amps in the “Maximum Power” field, I entered numbers in the “Engine Parameter Identification” field. As a result, I was running on the stock 50 amps. Well, I hope things work out next time.

Here’s a description of Hybrid Control Mode 2. When the inertial measurement unit (IMU) is enabled and the trigger is not pressed, the remote control does not respond to rotation. When the trigger is pressed and the remote is held vertically, both motors rotate at the same speed. If you turn the remote while the trigger is pressed, one of the motors will begin to slow down until it stops completely.

Independent is a very strange mode. When the trigger is pressed and the IMU is disable. Turn on the IMU. Press the trigger in the vertical position. The same motor starts running. Turn the handle, and the other motor starts. If you turn the handle the other way, only one motor runs. So far, I think Hybrid Control Mode 2 is the most intuitive and practical for real-world use.

I would agree that independent is not intuitive.

Is it your intention to just use the IMU - single motor steering to return the vessel to you or use it during towing.

My logic would say having only one motor working during towing would be a reduction of the total thrust ability causing the vessel to slow down. I have never used a tow boogie so maybe running on one motor makes no real difference.

Has anyone been in contact with Flipsky to get some future development informations about VX 5 ?

Im curious if they would ever enable data logging and exporting to Computers via USB.

I spent a couple of hours using this remote control on the Tow Boogie. It works incredibly well in Hybrid Control 2 mode, and my shooting skills really came in handy – just take your finger off the trigger, and you’re safe. The inertial measurement unit (IMU) was always on. The range is good. It shoots reliably at 100 meters, but I haven’t tried it beyond that. The only disappointment is the dual controller; it seems to overheat periodically, causing the motors to lose power.
However, when the unit is moving, I prefer to use the tether, as slowing down one motor results in a loss of power.

Hi there could you take a minute to describe how the gears are changed up and down please.

I have a vx3 , iam right handed and goofy so hard to keep trigger in right spot when standing on the board

@Amo1

Highly recommend downloading the full user manual - link is in this topic

New version V1.1,2 but no updated manual included so no idea what has changed.

Being right handed and goofy stance would difficult. I am regular and right handed and my left hand is free to stabilize my position as I stand up. Maybe try regular stance a couple times. The at least your right hand has a chance to control. Very quickly you will develop muscle memory for the twtchy throttle. A 2400cm2 wing must e hard to handle as it will fly so soon before there is any speed staility. I even find a 1600 too big for my 92kg.

i have goofy stand and i am right handed, no probelem there what so ever
in following other topic where you ask same question.
also possible vx5 to change trotle sensitivity. i use like 10% so litlee release you feel instant

(vx 3 i dont know)

v1,1,2 user manual is now available

Is 1.1.2 updated? As I remember having issues with it, not showing all the data.
EDIT; I see they uploaded 1.1.3 now.

Recent Flipsky blog about IMU function.

They have also released ver 1.1.3. This is change log at the end of each user manual

Hello,

After several unsuccessful attempts with different brands of remotes, I decided to try the VX5. And I ordered it from Aliexpress.

Since I’m currently assembling a second board, I wanted to buy a second receiver, but I couldn’t find it sold separately anywhere.

Does anyone have information on whether it’s sold separately and from where?!

Did you already asked flipsky directly?

Ask them directly. Flipsky is VERY flexible in what they sell as “spares”. And there prices are def good.
