Foil Drive Patent

Foil Drives patent application for the Gen2 was filed in Feb 2023 with a launch in October 2023. (WIPO - Search International and National Patent Collections).
Foil Drive claims the priority date for Gen2 was 25 Feb 2022, but that seems a bit odd considering their assist plus only launched on 14 Feb 2022.

Pwrfoil clearly built the first under board pod and also had it for sale in 2019:

Then there are open source systems that pre-date foil drives claims:

Foil Drive Assist, DIY - #119 by ptone?

For anyone wondering, here is the birth of the actual Foil Drive and you can see their progress and dates accordingly:

I wonder, given the compact size of the controller and FoilDrive’s penchant for Maytech devices, if this is the model they use?

I think for Gen1 they used FSESC_6.7_PRO

Pretty sure its what they are using.

The 6.6 looks like a better fit and already includes the XT90.

They are indeed using that one. Interesting that they picked a 60A max controller…

How do you tell users that you have a low-power controller that is overheating?
Here’s how: we give you a free 10-second boost.

Whats more amazing is how they convince their users to buy into the obvious engineering faults…

That picture is a 6.7. Its written on the board.
FD uses the 6.7 pro v2.0. Its a 70A and the FD units top out at 1800w.

We did a comparison - user of foil drive gen2 exchanged with user of 6384 12s Xcross 160a setup. From both sides it was clear that foil drive gen2 is much weaker than xcrosss diy. Both were using fd blades.
