Did any of you tried vesc 75/300 with the FR motor and could share his motor and app settings?
Did you made it current driven?
For control i use ppm
I wouldnt use settings from other people, if your setup ist not exact the same. Longer wires, different connector etc. will change the resistance and inductance which will cause a wrong model.
In worst case you will even lose sync…
Is that so sensitive? All other normal esc I tried so far worked pretty well (hifei and hobbywing).
I use ppm so far
This are my settings, you need to do the wizard motor detection … but this values can be use to make a test start
One day I could not run motor detection so I upload saved settings and after it worked
Will try… By the way. Is there a nice spark proof circuit (no switch) that can be added? On the hobbywing the spark proof circuit is built in and is so nice… No extra wire. Just the 2 battery leads and clean spark free connection
In BLDC mode it doesnt matter.
But for FOC the better the model the smother the commutation.
Why not using anti spark plugs? If you dont need a active AS switch this should be the easiest and cheapest option…
Which motor size did you choose for FR autodetection?
the biggest available of inrunner, but in memory you can go without the wizard and run detection on the motor page
I actually configured without setup as the USB disconnects every time I run the motor… Strange… I think will use BLE…
Anyway runs smooth… Just the throttle range is very short (start rotation at about 10% and reach full at 20% stick)… now need to figure out the ppm settings but so far so good
Run wizard for remote , or check end points live by checking real time ( activated it ) , so at remote page , you have on top the value in the vesc , on the bottom real time don’t forget to write on vesc
( from pc in vesctool with usb)
Throttle range is only short because you try it in air… If you try it in water (under load) it will be more linear;-)
only in current control mode
I would rather build an anti spark circuitry without switch.
found that picture on a forum… need to explore this idea…
Well, an active circuit does exactly the same as an passive anti spark plug.
but the active circuit is more expensive, more complex and does add resistance.
So depending on the mosfets you are using and amps you are drawing, you might even need passive cooling.
…I dont see the advantage of such circuit.
Well, do agree on you points having said that I want to use proper industrial waterproof connectors and those are not having passive spark proof…(at least those I have found so far).
In industry, battery packs with proper bms, they have pre discharge steps before turning on the main discharge switch ( fets or conatctors)
1pre discharge step can be conducted in two different ways
1- dury cycling main switch and closing control loop with discharge current to charge any indicative or capacitive load connected to battery with low current
2- using a low current fet/switch (predischarge fet) with a resistor to reduce the current until the bus voltage reached pack voltage and then main discharge switch turns on
I almost set my board on fire with those switches, 5 mosfet type, negligible resistance when in on state but one time I’ve been saved by luck, battery + cable free to touch the negative due to the pcb carbonized, solder melted and flushed ob grp (also carbonized).
Still have “electronic fire smell” on battery and board!
Second time I just seen the voltmeter going off…so I pull onshore and found the pcb of the antispark again fried.
Better a spark than such a mess. What if the battery went short? I would have had a bad day!
I assume it was the eSk8 Vedder Anti-Spark one. Quite a few forum members seem to have bought this 5 FET version.
Do you think that one of these would have performed any better in similar conditions ? :
