You have 3 cracks in that pic. Buy a new mast plate.
3 cracks … not the other marks are traces of strong, wear.
The leading and trailing edges are too thin on this plate.
I sent an email to gong they repaired me within the hour and opened a service procedure.
Our mastplates (3pcs) are cracked this way too. It is weak for e-foil. I mentioned this to gong, but I didn’t get anything. It would be great to have this part out of carbon.
I didn’t mention to Gong that it was an efoil. I was thinking of putting two layers of carbon on the outside of the new turntable.
I’d just get a new one… It’s probably not worth the time and the risk to fix this one.
I don’t actually plan to repair this one but to put some carbon on the new turntable to avoid the same problem. The best would be to machine a slightly thicker turntable.
The FLying Rodeo turntables are compatible with Gong mats. Are they stronger?
If yes, does he sell them?
I used my gong mast on my takuma mount plate 2019, not exactly same dimension ( one mount was tight don’t remember which one )
Best option for me I think
The new model send by gong a “la Baule” is better without hole like the first model .but i never do this what you have on mine in 20 hours of riding …i Break it After a bad setting on fail safe and full gaz against the lake… this month a sunday and received 3 days later the New one 30 € and working the sunday After it work for me it’s safe like a fuse for the board but for you it’s différent like Bad torsion…sorry to see that but for the gong Price whe have not the best ,better is much expensive .
Good news, Gong changes me the turntable of mast. At reception I plan to put 2 or 3 layers of carbon fiber on it … what do you think ? advice ? Thanks
Carbon and Aluminium are not the best partners.
Just leave it as is. If it breaks again they will probably replace it again. I am 95Kg and have been using one for ages and it hasn’t broken.
Thank you, I don’t think Gong changes my turntable indefinitely… then I may have stumbled upon a faulty turntable …
I only sail in fresh water … does electrolysis also work in fresh water or just sea water?
Very much so! Carbon will corrode metal very quickly even in fresh water.
If you put one layer of fiberglass between the Al and the CF, you should be fine
I got confirmation from SICOMIN ([https://www.boutique-resine-epoxy.fr/]) and indeed if you isolate the carbon from the aluminum with a layer of fiberglass 160 or 200 grams then it’s good. Pay attention to the nut passage.
You do not need to reinforce the new aluminium Plate.
Gong changed its design because many users had the same issue you have had.
The new aluminium plate is thicker than before and reinforced where it broke on your old one.
Yes I know but gong sent me the old model…histoire to sell out of stock I think …
Hi have you the stl file ?
