JDubs Dual Motor Tow Boogie

Thanks for all the detailed tips and info Jesse.
I’m going to do a 5’8 ‘homage’ ! Could you please let me know where the motors are on that board, how far from tip or tail to centre of the motor pod. Thanks

Edit: I thought I was replying to DM.

Yes, sorry for the late response, been a super busy time. I will get the measurements tonight and send them to you.

About 24-25 inches from the tail to the center of the motor pod. I like to put them close together as well. It seems to be much more stable. About 7 1/2” from center to center apart.

Hello Jess, Thank you very much for sharing and you implication!
Will you make a video or tutorial to built our great tow boogies?
Maybe the Last updated pieces shopping list?

If I had the resources to buy a whole new setup to put together and do a video I would, but I don’t. I will try to put together an updated parts list, but the only thing that has really changed is using the mateksys pro BEC and the APD 200F3 speed controllers. I still have 2 boogies with the flycolor x-cross 120’s, but they are the BL_heli version and I know some people have been having issues with the new ones since BLHeli is no longer a thing.

Great thread, thank you @Jesserosco

Would also be interested in an update on current recommendations for a fresh build of a simple mid-power setup based on 2x 6384 motors.

I’m planning on something as simple as possible, and then upgrade as necessary.

Just an update for those reading this later, the pool noodle made a huge difference for keeping the nose up during starts with my low rocker nose, and also in choppier conditions. Here is a pic of my setup. Huge credit to @Jesserosco & @Etiennebzh for sharing knowledge and designs, and @ludwig_bre for the bremote, battery calculation tools and videos, and steering ability! https://youtu.be/Ucmq9VKIzOk

Hey @nekitesurfing does this work well? Can you please share the link to buy?

I’ve only mocked this up for a few water tests but have found the pool noodles (double stacked  ) a must have for this short 42" board. Have also added a lower tow point like yours and two trim tabs (one each side) while trying to solve an issue I had…

The only big issue I was having was the boogie was bouncing side to side when it got to about 20kph (“chine walking” was the closest boating term I could find that roughly matched what I was seeing") but I found this was possibly caused by my motors pointing up too much - the boogie isn’t as flat as I thought it would be when planing. I shimmed them 5 degrees negative from the position in the photo and it works much better. I’ll probably try another 2.5-5 degrees to see if it’s even better.

Thanks to everyone on the forum - especially @ludwig_bre for his help with the BRE remote. This thing is awesome - currently get a few hundred metres range in the water and haven’t tried an external aerial on the RX yet.
