Wow great built but Double Maytech remote must be a handful! Do you know about the Bremote or did you choose Double Maytech? If so, why?
That’s really nice, so simple ![]()
The endless tweaking and code mods on the Bremote V2 post scares me a little to be honest.
Really interested to hear how the dual Maytech’s work on the water.
I’ve checked my anthropometric measurements and realized I’ll need a hand like this. I’ll consult with my surgeon.
I designed and 3D printed a holder for both Maytech controllers, it works really well. The main drawback is range - it’s good for 50-100m on water. So I tend to keep it reasonably close, hard at first but now have it dialed and its steers fine. If it gets out of range I just pump towards it. I’ll likely use BREremote (for range and GPS) for my next build which I have delayed, as my v1 of the @Jesserosco clone has been so much fun. Next build is going to be based on @Etiennebzh Highfield mini-rib design.
Pros - Low-cost, simple, reliable, and cheap to buy and replace.
Cons - Limited range and no follow me/GPS functionality.
… I am using the Maytech V3 version which has a stonger signal strength setting and better water proofing.
Thanks! Ordered the BRemote but there were some delays with it - I already had two Maytechs so thought I would try them together in a 3D printed holster. Worked super well, using index finger on one trigger and the middle finger on the other trigger. Under tow mode its beyond easy. After you let go the rope then it takes some getting used to. Not the best range, but enough if you keep a close eye on the boog.
Very cool, I’d love to try this but they don’t ship to NZ, and if they did it would probably cost more than the boat itself.
I used https://www.myus.com/ to Australia but an expensive exercise. Maybe the hull experts can answer this but I’m thinking the Highfield hull may be less efficient than these flat bottom boards - so less range and time on water??? I was expecting the soft-top board to handle badly but it has been really impressive even in choppy water. It definitely gets airborne in chop but lands pretty flat and keeps hustling.
Thanks, there is a Highfield dealer in NZ so I’ve asked if they can import one… but yea I have a flat boogie and have a great time on it, no huge need to change, but I would like something that can roll itself back over, or just less less resistent to flipping over (which this RIB would be).
