Hello Ocean, congratulations on this innovative product!
What’s the total weight of the Amp Jet?
Thanks
Andrea
This statement has me curious whether you are just affiliated with Fliteboard or are simply a separate development division.
What’s the “run” time of the AMP jet, and how much push (thrust) can the jet give?
Also. Is it a true waterjet, or more a ducted type fan?
Is there a gearbox inside ? 40mm motor is so tiny
You have announced “Fly safe batteries” to be in tune with the times… Please, tell us more…
The amp jet looks great, I love the integrated design! Will you have boards with waterproof foam?
Meow, now that it’s out, can you elaborate a bit? Is the disadvantage you’re thinking of that you can’t use your own board? Or that you can’t “efoil back out on foil”?
yeah cant efoil out back, probably heavier than the alternatives. Looks safer as there is no prop. You guys would know better than me now that its out, im not sure how heavy the whole jet thing and battery weighs.
Rumour has it the prone board is 3kg and with the jet it totals 6kg weight.
This video makes it look pretty insane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1gtZ2SO7l0
Price estimation? Since its a foil + board?
The dw foil prone is the best way to show off such a device that has limited popups and no ability to efoil around. Because you can takeoff anywhere, brilliant! But in a surfing lineup, let’s say you jet assist to the lineup and catch a wave. Then ride it to the end and then you come down and jet assist back to the takeoff spot. I’m not sure if you’d even be able to have enough battery for 2 waves. If you are able to pump and link a heavy board, you will be better off on a dw sup board or other big volume board. I also don’t know how you make it out to the wind line with the jet assist because your battery would be done before you got a fraction of the way out. So only good in dw conditions where it’s right in front of the beach, which is rare. Seems like a very very limited application compared to the mast solution
You are correct Meow. If you don’t pump back out you have to paddle back out. It does have a paddle assist mode that runs at around 20% power and lets you paddle a 4’2 as fast as a 9’1 Mal. I know as I ofter go out with my wife who paddles a mal
As far as run time it varies on how long you boost for, size of board etc but I am 85kg and on a 4’2 board with both batteries in you get up to 80 boosts or a combo of boost and paddle assist. For example I can ride with one battery (half the run time and also less max boost) and usually get a good 2 hr session in. so with two batteries unless you fall off more than me and I do crash a a lot . you should never run our of battery.
i think the question people are wondering, and the one answer that all companies are scared to answer is. How long can i run this on max power? For FD-style devices its only really 15-20min on their biggest battery. On the Jet, Im guessing its only a few minutes? As 5sec * 80 = 400 seconds = 6.5 minutes?
Yep but the jet is not designed to run continuously. it’s design to get you up and help you paddle back out. If you want to run around and hybrid efoil the Mast option is the go. With 4 batteries you have just over 600Wh and the runtime all comes down to rider weight foil, foil choice, conditions and skill.
I do not see a remote.
So how does the setup know when to boost?
Does it use an accelerometer, and when it detects that you are still in the water, and an acceleration it gives a set time of boost?
Also. As it is a water jet, I guess the RPM’s will be high.
Does it make a lot of noise when boosting?
That sounds like a 10s4p battery split 4 ways for travel?
When will we get more detailed specs on the system?
You definitely hear it when on the board and if you are close enough. Most people don’t and I quite often get ask how the hell did I catch that wave!! Once up it is obviously off so the sound is never for long. You can only just hear it in paddle assist mode while paddling out but no one else can even if they are paddling beside you.
Can you share the average prices?
Sorry I can’t share prices yet. We haven’t finalised them and even if I give a ballpark people will hold me too it. We are working very hard on being competitive but at the same time we haven’t cut any corners. Sign up to the website and you will be notified earlier about information as it comes to hand.
I think the mast version has wider use applications, even though it’s the same idea as FD. But building the battery into the board is an improvement. Would be nice to know how far away we are from seeing that.
