Hey guys,
I have built a new board with integrated VESC and Accu.
Board:
XPS Austrotherm Top3
5,0 x 19" 70 Liters Volume
Bottom: 1 layer 200g BIAX +/-45° plus patches
Top: 2 layers 200g BIAX +/-45°
Fabric and epoxy from: HP Textiles Germany
Weight: 5,8kg with the Heat sink
Electronic:
VESC: Harry Drive M
Accu: Up to 3x 12S2P in 8x3 configuration with EVE 40PL 21700 4000mAh 70A
Motor: SAITE 63100
Propeller: Propellerking Hyperdrive
Maiden Flight was last Sunday. It works great with plenty of power.
Looks good, similar to what I have done.
Is this your actual setup you use?
If so I would strongly consider some sort of secondary protection for the electronics.
As it is, even a few drops of water could create a pretty bad situation.
And those hatches can be pretty tight, but if you use it often, there will be situation where you missed some dirt on the seal or something and a bit of water will get in.
I created a minimal enclosure for the ESC, that prevents water from getting inside, unless its like a lot. Basically it is waterproof from the bottom, but I did not bother to seal or cable entries.
Dont have the board here, but on the second pic, you can see the basics.
It is really just a 3d printed box and the bottom is a 2mm aluminium plate glued in with pu sealant.
I also put the batteries into freezer bags for the same reason.
One time I ompletely forget to close the lid and it was just loose in the thread. Had about 500ml water inside in seconds, before Bremote2 water detection kicked in and still no damage to anything.
