So the question is who is lift taking aim at… Foildrive? FlyWay? What could they bring to the market that’s not there yet…
My bet is on foildrive. IMO there are more potential customers there than in the full efoil market
That’s my thought too. If they are, its guaranteed to be a seriously polished product and might just eliminate Foildrive out the market if its similarly priced. or Foildrive will have to bring their prices down… Gonna be interesting to see…
They still they the elite controller to release since a years promises, but that would be underwhelming.
Agree with the foil-drive market size but margins are thin for this segment. The probably want to take back the macho crown and undercut the Ultra in size.
The “raw” harware they include is 1/4 of the sales price and waterproofing an outrunner is not very time consuming… i dont think the margin is slim
Well, I have hard time thinking a reputable company would risk image and go for a solution that works 10 sessions before corrosion and warranty claim. They are allready borderline with battery problems and bad press.
Also on outsourced lithos batteries even if they go 1/4 of capacity it will come at atleast 50% cost of today, meaning 2k$+.
Speculation is fun lets see on the 16:th
If lift bring out a foil assist, they’ll do it with an inrunner made by the same company doing their main unit… Drop the battery to an 8s4p and it will be a lot cheaper, even when made by lithos. They could definitely fit it into the margins. But if they do one, they’ll price it a bit higher and make it more premium. Then they’ll simply offer a solid dedicated board too or something just to add in some extras and get some more profit…
Either way it’s going to be interesting to see what it is…
I heard a rumor they were making a jetski efoil version, which would be way cooler than the foil assist. The foil assist makes more sense logistically, but rumor mill + overall market would suggest something inline with a jetski foil or similar to flyaway, or maybe something between those two. Foil assist limits the market appeal and Lift is certainly mainstream. Since FR is one of their main vendors, I would lean towards some hybrid set up.
Looking forward to something new…
Rumour I hear: less expensive fibreglass board, bringing cost down from $$$$$$$ to $$$$$$
How would fiberglass allow you to experience the water in a different way? Their efoil boards are already heavy, so moving to fiberglass would make them heavier. I guess fiberglass would be different in a negative sort of way, which seems unlikely.
As explained to me, cheaper materials, shave a few hundred $ off a big price tag. But not exactly a big wow splash announcement there, so maybe unlikely.
Possible, but does the market really want that? Super yachts might, but how many others would go for that. Harder to transport, heavier…
Nah I can’t see that happening. Why bring out a heavier cheaper board when you already the most successful efoil company. No innovation or any new experience for customers…
They may have an automated tow board on the go… Something different and there could be a good market for it…
My guess is something totally new like FlyWay or then new for Lift like an e surf. Next week we will know !
« Experiment water in a different way »
So not « new way »
On in , above it , standing , seating …
E-surf : 2 units and 2 battery needed ( tried with my board in mode surf , didn’t get a decent speed )
Add on setup : probably not
Jetski Efoil : why not
I am thinking of a light surfing board with a smaller battery and a higher place propulsion unit with the fold prop ( think saw a pic somewhere last year …)
I know another really big brand in watersports is working on a new reimagined efoil version to hit the market probably this year. I know it because I talked with the owner…
My bet is that Lift’s spies know it and want to cut them out before they release their products. I would bet on a mix jetboard / efoil board. No idea if this will be identical to something existing though.
No, lift won’t do a jetboard… It simply wouldn’t make sense with a name like lift. It will definitely be foil related.
Lift 3F revelealed. Glassfibre board knocking price down to 9999$. Makes commercial sense to gun for the cheaper inititives.
But still what a dissapointment after all the exciting speculation here…
congrats on the correct prediction
Yeah lol. I don’t even know why they teased us for this . Was expecting something totally different haha. I mean you can probably already find second hand lift boards for less than 10k$ and those are most of the time in fairly good state…
Exactly that…
I guess now its a lot cheaper to make an efoil though as GF is cheaper than CF
Roll on DIY GF boards…
