Found a bug and was able to reproduce the voltage being put out, leading to corrosion
Important Fix, everyone please install to Tx
This fix will disable Serial() when no connection to a PC is detected. Also, the GPS init fix is included.

Also, I am searching for users that already have a BN-220 module on their Rx and want to try data logging on the Rx, best also with a VESC over UART…
Basically the same thing a metr. / voyage systems module does, minus the vesc setting options for now

Hi Ludwig,
I have just done this update. I now get the message “ESV” on the Tx. Looking this up I have “error config version”.
The update went through ok on the flash download tool and the config shows up on the serial terminal and it shows I’m on the version compiled on Jan 22 2026.
I used the “tx.ino.bin” file and used address 0x10000. Any idea how to fix this?
I haven’t done any updates previously since I built the tx and I was on the 26th May version.
I was about to update my rx with the latest version too but will hold off until I hear from you.
Many Thanks,
James
Quick update. When I initially connect to the serial terminal, all looks ok. If I use the command ?reboot in the serial terminal I get “error, version mismatch! Update firmware” when it reboots.
You have to migrate the config from V1 to V2.
I think he showed how to do it in one of the videos.
Like open the config site with V1, enter your current config, open another window of the config site with V2 and manually copy the values over to get a V2 version string.
Exactly
Or just ?clearSPIFFS, reboot and redo the whole config (gets deleted this way)
I think this is the video explaining it
I just found your video just as you replied. Thanks. I’m working my way through it ![]()
Both rx and tx uploaded to version 2.4 on the tx and 2.2 on the rx as per the latest release. I’ve tested and all pairs and motors behave as expected with steering. The only thing that I’ve noticed is I no longer get my battery voltage reading on the tx. I’ll check back through my settings. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Or have I misunderstood the new display in v2.2?
I’ve gone back through the posts and seen the sketch from Ludwig showing the battery bar is the bottom one. Connection strength the side one and speed are my two dashes.
Exactly V2.2 has rearranged bars
Speed the dashes
Bottom row all the way from left to right battery
Right side upwards temp from vesc and signal strength next to each other
Your remote shows
“–” speed (no GPS found)
Shown in this post as well
Great. Thanks. Everything is ready to go again. ![]()
I’ve only ever had this " - - " despite having the GPS module installed on my RX. It never really bothered me but now I’m wondering why. Might it be because I’ve wired it up wrong or something in my config? How can I test it? (It does light up when powered on).
Also, I find it really hard to loop my leash, does anyone have a good method for doing this? It prevents me from taking the cover off and giving my bremote a good wash.
Try updating the firmware to the newest release, I included a fix there
I am assuming you have the “original” ublox module connected, not the “new” BN220?
Regarding the leash, another idea would be to make the hole in the handle sleeve bigger so the leash with all its plastic parts firs through without removing every time?
I have updated the Tx firmware, and yes I have the ublox module.
Here is an image of the setup. The blue light on the GPS flashes slowly, but it takes about 25 seconds to start flashing after I power up the Rx, before that there are no lights on the GPS.
config as shown

Make sure to also update Rx firmware, that’s where the fix is included.
Thanks I did that too. Downloaded both files from the latest GitHub release. However Rx appears to not have an update as it’s version 2.2.2 but Tx is v2.2.4.
Totally my fault, I forgot to upload the new files for Rx ![]()
Please check again, you should be able to download Rx 2.2.3 now
Working now, thanks!
I am going to connect the V2 Rx water sensor to my box. My plan was two 5mm x 15mm Nickel strips about 3mm apart at the lowest point in the box. I saw a previous note about twisting the wires back to the Rx. Does this setup sound about right?
