BREmote V2 - Open Source Remote

Will do. Is it OK to disconnect the connecting ribbon to the top PCB with the battery attached?

Yes, thats ok, just make sure to pull it straight in and out

Here the output via serial terminal. The display on the screen looks to be the charging one but missing the end.

Ok…
With a bit of luck it may be a solder bridge under the display… or actually it might be one display was put in upside down…
Please also include images of all 4 sides of the display

Here are the screen pins.

Please also check left and right side of the display itself. Can you see a “757AS” print on one or both of them?

Here are all 4 sides. I cannot see anything printed on the sides.

Thanks!
One of the displays was soldered in the wrong orientation…
If you want to try, you can desolder it and flip it 180°
And anyways you will get a replacement from openfoil, I will contact Jasmin already, he will contact you with further information

Great. Thanks Ludwig. I’ve had a bit of bad luck with this but the support from yourself and Jasmin has been first class. I’ll wait to get an email from Jasmin.

Sorry for the issue and thanks for the patience!

When potting the TX are the pouches that come with the kit (compound A and B) in the correct ratio where I just need to mix them together fully?

Thanks

Hi,
The contents are already measured, just pour everything into a container and mix.

Great. Thanks. That’s tonight’s job.

It’s finished! The remote feels great in the hand.

Hello @ludwig_bre

In order to fine tune my V2 :

Is it possible to keep the toggle always active ?
After a crash sometimes I need to make the boogie turn directly without pushing the trigger.
I have the impression for the moment to have to push the trigger then the toggle.

How could I reduce the toggle effect when I turn ?
On a dual motor, if you have too much power outside, you increase the turning radius.
When the toggle is active the motor outside spins too fast. Is it possible to reduce PWM effect on the toggle ?

Is it possible to use only one gear but not the highest? Like 7.
Because 8 and 9 are too much power and I prefer less sensitivity of the trigger on this 7th gear. I can make the trigger travel from 0% to 100% on this configuration.
IMO It’s safer to have the first 10/15% really non sensitive in case of a mistake close to the tow so I use the expo to reduce the reactivity.

Yes, set block time to 0

Set steer influence to a lower value

Set start gear to 7 and never change the gears when using the remote?

You can also try the exponential feature on top of using a low gear

You could simply scale the upper PWM number in the config to match your intended power output and use no gears.

I.E. calibrate the ESC with range 1000-2000 and after calibration set the 2000 to 1700.

You can probably also cut off the low values that way. I. e. calibrate with 1100-2000 and set to 1000-1700 after.

I have not tried either, but I am pretty sure it will work.

For steering it would be great, if one motor could do reverse. Not sure how to implement that.

Hello,

I am getting false E7 water sensor alarms and wondered if anyone else had this issue?

The system will stay stable without out alarm for as long as I want until I start driving the motor. Could a voltage be getting induced in the sensor circuit? I have tried rerouting the sensor wires, but there is only so far I can move them in my setup.

Would anyone have any suggestions to fix? Should I try shielding the sensor wires? If so, where should I ground the shield to?

Yes, that’s what’s happening
The layout of your box is a bit unfortunate with the Rx so close to the motor wires…
You can try to twist the sensor wires together tightly and keep them as short as possible behind the Rx, don’t cross them with the motor wires

Hi Ludwig, thank you for the reply and the excellent BREmote project as a whole. I will give the twisted pair a try and then reconfigure the layout over the winter.
