65220 is motor and ESC in one piece.
I tried to connect using the PPM connection and the VESC tool and it did not work. I can send videos if you lik, but havent found any videos online of someone connecting the VX3 to the 65220 even though they are sold as a kit togeither. It did not come with a UART connection cable just PPM.
The 65220 has a built in 75100 ESC and comes with the VX3 and various cables. They only provide a PPM connection cable, I dont have a UART connection cable although they sent me a photo of one yesterday so trying to get it. Does anyone have a video of pairing these two together. Here is what i purchased
My apologies didn’t realize it was integrated VESC.
From Flipskys website it looks like the UART connector runs from the motor.
The VX3 package has always included a UART cable like in the photo. Just have to use the correct pinout cable ie RX - TX. Of course you have to use VescTools to configure VESC and set the VX3 for same.
it did not work, is not a lot of info.
I guess the ppm cable is a 3 pin connector and it is powering the RX of VX3?
And you did complete the bind process?
You use the USB to connect to VESC?
And when you run the input wizard in VESC, you select PPM and then there is no input at all?
The remote dcome with a 4 pin UART cable. Is there another way to connect th UART? The motor has the UART well labeled
Exactly, i tried using the PPM connection 3 pin and ran the VESC tool. The motor connected perfectly but the remote using the VESC tool doenst want to connect. So am trying to figure out how to connect with the UART
Wait, you are trying to see the remote in vesc tools?
No one is going to be able to help you, if you keep only answering half the questions and only providing part of the information.

You are not helping yourself here😉
All of the things you are asking about have been discussed - answered in other topics here. Please spend some time reading - using search tool etc and if you still need help then ask away.
This is not really complicated.
You have to decide if you want to configure for PPM or UART, find the correct cable(s) that match that, configure VESC to use that one, configure remote to use that one, pair the remote to the VESC.
UART connection will cause more telemetry data to display on remote screen but either PPM or UART will allow you to make the prop spin.
1: Make sure your remote is set to PPM control mode if you want to use PPM.
2: Make sure the remote is paired to the receiver
3: When you set up the remote in the VESC tool and calibrate you should then see the calibration work. Make sure to write the settings for the APP.
Then all should work.
I have spent hours trying to connect this VX3 remote to the 65220, I’ve watched every video I can find on youtube but have not found one video yet of someone connectting these two and Flipsky customer service has been worthless. They sent me a photo of a cable that wasnt included in the remote or the motor and I live in Ecuador so nearly impossible to find this cable I’m lookign for one person who has succesfully connected the 65220 to the VX3 to provide advice. I’ve already ordered the Maytech and 75100 external VESC if this continues to fail but am surprised I cant find anything to help
If you use the search function you can find out who here has had some experience with the 65220.
I get that you might be frustrated but I don’t like getting yelled for trying to help you.
didnt intend for you to interpret my writing as yelling, just wanted to make clear i’ve been searching every bit of info on this as I can, and dont have access to technicians down here. I’m also seaching here for other strings and this seems to be the only one, im getting the sense think this combo is not widely used
Tap the magnifying icon that I have highlighted and type in 65220. I see a number of items when I do that. That will list all the comments that have that term. You could then PM the people who use it.
From what I understand the 65220 isn’t widely used here. basically a good motor with a tiny VESC inside the casing. Not ideal for efoil use. Good in the aspect of the VESC is cooled by immersion but has downsides of not handling high Amps surges and long battery wires.
I have tried to get it going this weekend and when i connected it to the vesc tool and VX5 via UART I got some mixed signals already.
I know we are supposed to turn off the phase filters so i went ahead and uploaded the latest FW although Flipsky recommends keeping it on the 5.2. So, i updated it, disabled phase filters and did my usual. I also turned off Slow ABS current (by default it is on from Flipsky).
All measurements went through flawlessly, but when spinning up to full throttle i could hear weird noise just like there would be a wire inside catching the rotor or cogging a bit at full throttle. And doing that a few times resulted in FAULT_CODE_ABS_OVER_CURRENT. ← just running full throttle on bench without propeller.
So something was telling me i should stick with the original fw 5.2 so I downgraded and the motor runs so quiet now i could not believe it. Just downgrading fixed the weird noise but for ABS OVER CURRENT I am not sure.
Right now i have motor max at 120A, regen at -60 and abs max at 200A with slow ABS turned on.
Wondering if anyone else had the experience with 65220 VESC settings and cutting off?
