Hi,
This remote is not waterproof, water penetrates under the screen protection, which is not glued.
I haven’t seen this problem on the forum yet?

Flipsky has reportedly been good on warranty repair for this issue.
More info here
Wow yours really got ruined! I have one that was new a year ago, but now I can see moisture has crept in and around the screen and it is becoming harder to see.
This has come up before on the forum: VX3 repair/ maintenance - helpful info - #34 by lishine.
It may be possible to extend the life of a VX3 with some additional waterproofing steps. If yours really had no glue on that screen case then it seems like a sloppy quality control issue should ideally be replaced (though I think Flipsky’s record with replacing defective products isn’t great)
Overall I don’t think the VX3 is a great remote, it’s decent and can get the job done but doesn’t have great longevity, or at least we can’t expect it to. There just aren’t many options for waterproof remotes.
I bought it more than 2 months ago.
I have problems with Flipsky for warranty for one ESC, I will ask them after for this remote
Did you contact Flipsky about warranty repair?
Just wanted to note that I have a VX3 which has failed after 4 uses. I turned it on at the start of the 5th session, it showed the loading screen then shorted out. Despite opening it up and drying it in a bed of rice it never recovered.
I’m waiting to hear back from flipsky, but if they don’t come to the party then I’ll need to replace it. I don’t know that the maytech remote is any better, what are the other options?
Yes, seems like your vx3 pro is an abnormal manufacture problem.
I remember that vx3 pro is better sealed than the regular vx3…
What do you think about filling the internals with Raytech Magic Gel? I have just got a Vx3 Pro while I wait for Bremote v2, and I would like not to need to find out if it’s actually waterproof
The VX3 is already filled with something that looks like silicone. There won’t be much room to add anything else. When they fail I suppose it’s because the silicone didn’t work it’s way everywhere it should have.
I’ve actually just used Magic Gel in last week on my latest eFoil build in the esc box and thought about this.
It is a very runny, sticky, and messy liquid before it sets. Really meant to pour into a contained volume. I have also been opening up my VX3’s looking at the “screen box” and I don’t know that magic gel would work well. Maybe if you opened the VX3 to understand the volume of space to fill, then close it up and drill a small hole in the right spot to inject with a syringe. I would think a lot would leak out of the remote before setting and I would wonder how well it really filled the void. And you cannot really check because opening the remote again would pry the gel apart.
Also, Magic Gel does appear to run a bit even after it has set (it seems intended for stationary electrical boxes where this doesn’t matter). I took the cup I had used with a bit left in the bottom that had set and left it tipped over. In a few hours the gel had followed gravity and pooled a bit (but not completely) at the bottom.
Thanks, that is very useful to know
Just for perspective I priced Flight controller $500 USA and Lift controller $300 or $900 depending on model.
Flipsky sells the VX3 for $100 USA and I’m guessing Maytech is comparable $ - not sure of Breremote $ but I assume it’s also in this range.
There are a few others mentioned in posts that I think are priced similar to the Flite and Lift offerings.
Most of the builders here seem to be price biased or they would simply go and buy a commercial product. The enjoyment of building is the biggest driver but $ is a factor.
I use VX3 and don’t have any of the problems mentioned but then I rarely immerse mine and if I do it’s for a brief period in fresh water so perhaps others are using in harsher conditions.
Flipsky claims an IP67 rating where I believe the Flite and Lift products are IP68 so perhaps we are getting what we pay for.
Yes, as mentioned, I recommend at least opening it to check how it’s sealed.
For your information, I recently potted a battery and found that this AliExpress silicone has significantly lower viscosity than typical gel.
My VX3 got water inside the display and was eventually lost at sea — I’m hoping the VX3 Pro performs better. On the other hand, I know someone who lost their VX3 and later found it on the beach still fully functional.
I now have two VX3 Pro remotes that have screen gone white. The remote still works and I can use it, but cannot see any screen information. Does anyone have any idea if this could be fixed? First screen died after a few weeks lost and submerged, second was under 10 sessions.
I just cut the wires, don’t recommend buying this remote , Maytech is better
Three flipsky remotes were destroyed in less then year
From my observations, water only gets in and out through the trigger.
I rinse mine in a bucket, with trigger up squeezing it to get the fresh water in, then take it out, pull the trigger pointing down to remove the water, then hang it like everyone else.
If you just hang, it sits with the water, worse salt water.
The Maytech loses water on every level, everywhere.
I will report back to see if my remote lasts. The remote is waterproof, it is just not staying undamaged from emersion, which could be a drainage issue.
Just make a hole where it can drain properly from.
I might take mine apart, drill some holes and use some dielectric grease on anything bare.
There is no water ingress in the display. Although it should be better insulated.
There is too shallow epoxy coverage with some rust points on that black epoxy.
Not sure if there anything can be done to make it alive and what was the reason it became suddenly dead…
So it think it is not even a matter of waterproofed, it is just a bad product that can suddenly die.
