Wish they added a second channel for steering controlled by IMU for tow ![]()
Yes that would make sense to me.
The current idea of having the motor go to some preset power level simply by tilting the remote sounds kinda dicey to me. I would rather have that controlled by the trigger for my normal efoil use.
Maybe I’m just not seeing the purpose of this function???
I think it’s to stop the remote from sending signal when a certain angle is passed. Like a safety feature. I’ve updated both my remotes, but can’t really test it the water since it’s all frozen.
Anyone upgraded from Felix remote to vx5? is it worth it?
I don’t personally own a Felix remote, but I have used it a few times from a friend.
Very nicely made remote, works good, offers a nice upgrade over the Maytech and VX3 remote. But unfortunately they sold the company and you can’t buy them anymore (although they were super expensive in the end).
But now we have the VX5…
I’d say it has a better screen, better live data, good vesc integration, more configuration options, it’s a great remote for the price. It definitely needs to proof itself in terms of reliability, I’ve used it 5 session and don’t see any issues. They also made the housing completely watertight instead of simply potting the electronics. For the VX5 I paid roughly 200€, which was highly worth it in my opinion. Flipsky also seems to be working on it constantly as they have already released multiple updates.
I have both.
2 FeRos since 3 years and VX5 since some weeks.
I like my FeRos, but because of no further availability, I switched to VX5 in parallel.
The FeRo is better to hold in the hand and is a little bit smaller.
VX5 has the big advantage that GPS is inside the remote. With FeRo and GPS antenna inside the board I often have no GPS signal. Antenna outside the board would be better.
I like the display and the shown content for both.
Can you post some side by side photos?
Thanks! I was using fero for 3 seasons now but after hour or so of riding I get mild index finger cramps. You say Fero is better to hold in hand - I hope in my case will be opposite ![]()
I bought vx5 too but I am too lazy to switch. I guess I will have to try.
Also I have 2 gps antennas (Fero + metr) outside of board so gps signal is not a problem.
A couple of suggestions to try with your VX5
There is grip you can get from Flipsky that shrinks over the handle that changes how hard you need to grip the actual handle
The “gear” function might be useful as you can go up or down in them which alters your trigger position for a desired board speed.
