Will try 16S soon on the FR motor, Dale offered to use his battery for science…
On another subject, anyone fitted or tested footstraps on efoil, wondering how ankles cope with crashes?

Based on how ankles cope with wakeboards which have huge support and are light, I’m going to say a big fall with straps will hurt
I do think a front strap would be handy sometimes though!
Collegue of mine broke his foot with kitefoil+straps. Board stopped and he continued😀
Should be the same with an efoil, i wouldn’t use straps.
I added straps to my board recently, and I will never take them off again. The gain in control is massive! They must be tight so, just my toes are visible on the other side. Many crashes with them, but crashing is basically the same as without straps.
I just tried my efoil in 1-2ft waves, i don’t surf normally so this was challenging for me. What do you do if you’re stuck in the straps when falling from a wave or get a wave that hits you?
I bet they provide more control it’s like kitefoiling strapped or strapless. What I’m afraid is the crash at high speed where you nose dive. They are by far the worst… you manage to eject before hitting the water on these?
Straps Def the way to go!
how you should get stuck in the straps? As I mentioned, these must be tight, always. Many years ago I did windsurfing, and many people adjusted their straps wrong. Way to wide. So the whole foot up to the ankle was inside the strap. That is wrong. It must be so tight, that only your toes are visible.
Even set like this easy to break an ankle on a bad crash especially if your body rotate
Why not foothooks? I use them in my kite foilboard and never had issues
Yeah i saw some videos on foothook types and how to fit them, looked interesting and doable. @Toto44 Seems like very few go in waves with an efoil, what do you need the straps mainly for?
After my brother had to cancel our holiday after 2 days because of straps on the foil I can only recommend half straps, if straps at all.
Ouch! Let’s hope it heals to a full recovery without a million hours of fysio
I wish a speedy recovery
How did it happen?
I feel much more connected to the board. Input for carving is much better. Had several crashes, never any problem with my feet.
Yeah, he already recovered. Unfortunately they couldn’t operate him in croatia, so he went back to germany with an ambulance flight.
It happened last august, since then he had lots of physio but already is able to go running again.
Certainly it leaves some kind of fear of foiling, especially with straps.
His foot was basically trapped in the strap when he crashed and all ligaments were torn when he rotated while crashing. Was a painful view to see his lower leg completely sideways.
Man I’m not keen on that… good he recovered
This beast will be soon bolted on a mast for first flight… Shaft being machined to fit the 7inch FR prop and mast pod to be molded this weekend.
It spins 9400rpm on the bench…
geared?

What’s the gear ratio and motor type ?
You could have even 10k RPM, if you lack torque, you’ll only end up burning your motor or just not being able to foil
