This is normal. BTW there is also braking setting to play with if you want to.
Curious if anyone is using this with Escape32 and 6374 or 6384’s. The big appeal here is the waterproofing to give me some options on build experiments and this is the main esc that keeps coming up for me.

For our records, 145USD in Feb 2026. Is there a firmware that is more convenient for our use (efoil or assist) among the 3 possible ones (BLHeli_32,AM32,ESCape32) ?

Yes , I am using the sequre waterproof esc outside of pelican. Battery and receiver are inside pelican
Any feedback regarding temperature of the esc in use ? Did you glue the ESC with the plate from sequre ?
I have a cable gland to run the cable from the esc to the inside of the box but I am wondering how to make it waterproof since is a few cables,

I have run 1 session with this ESC, AM32 version on 12s3p and it worked great. I don’t know of a way to record the esc temp but it wasn’t even that hot to the touch after a 30 minute e foil run. For the cable gland I 3d printed an adapter to run the 3 separate phase wires into the box. This would also work if you wanted to run the esc outside of the box and run the battery terminals and data terminals through the gland. I also used some marine silicone sealant on the cables and gland before tightening the gland, no leaks so far.
I just set one up with ESCape FW - A note of caution you cannot have the RX and Wifi connected at the same time - I solved this by putting a switch on the signal wire so I can switch to wifi for tuning or RX for surfing - it works fine with simultaneous + and - to both
On AM32 don’t set Running brake level to 1!
2 is working. 1 stops your ESC to do anything…
I just built a waist assist using the WP14200 and I am having an issue with low rpm output. Currently using a maytech remote and a battery that has been proven. All components have been working great with a different ESC but the sequre seems to be limiting rpm to 40 percent or so even though the remote is showing 100 percent at full throttle.
I did a manual throttle calibration a few times with no change. It has the same issue with a load or no load. Any ideas? Do I need the adapter to program the esc or should it work normally with the factory settings?
Had a different problem but maybe yours is caused by the same issue, turned out that the earth connection coming out of the small central tab with the 5v from internal bec isn’t properly grounded. Try connecting the B- feed to the receiver directly to the negative battery cable. Even though it measures as connected with a multimeter it seems that it’s some sort of floating earth issue.
Also check the programming - Low RPM Power Protect needs to be OFF (not as shown in picture!)

Sorry, late to this party… but re Camden Boss boxes… and your point “No one would get this. Cambdenboss is gen1 assist level. In the near term there will be way better options than using a Cambdenboss.” - I disagree - or rather would love to know of a better option.
I would totally get this. I am (and from what I can see so are a lot of others) interested in waist mounted solutions (so much nicer to ride waves than board mounted - yes my subjective opinion).
I had switched to a Pelican box but now switching back to Camden Boss as the Pelicans - and I assume Explorer and other similar boxes are too heavy, bulky and made of PP which nothing sticks to, and I found mine leaked as the lid doesn’t close tight enough on the seal and also the boxes can flex due to being PP. The Camden Boss boxes are the opposite - they are light and stiff (for their size) and are a lot more waterproof. These will, IMHO, remain the best choice for waist/back mounted foil assist - short of building a custom box like Duotone and FoilDash have done.
However with a waterproof ESC I can see that the ESC can be mounted externally which others here have done. But even in this case I would still choose a Camden Boss box for my battery and RX.
Of course what I am saying might be complete nonsense if there is, as you say, way better options. Please share what they are as I am genuinely interested to know.
I can see that the release of a good quality, reliable and actually waterproof ESC would really bring in a new era of making these DIY setups so much easier and quicker to build - especially when paired with premade battery packs like the RacePow semi-solid-state packs. After remaking my entire setup twice in the last month, and still having issues, I am over all the work involved - and looking for a simpler approach which this might just bring in.

How did you get on with this issue? I have what sounds like the exact same issue - same remote and 6384 motor but using a Flipsky Mini FSESC v6.8 … doesnt matter how much throttle it seems to limit thrust to about 40%. I suspect its an issue with my phase cable (water ingress or stressed join/bad solder damaged during first session) as it worked for the first session then this problem has occured since - for the past 3 sessions after checking VESC settings and cleaning connectors, re-greasing etc.
All aluminium case, flat flange all the way around the case which would enable you to add a silicone seal and bolt it on or through another case.
I found this, but they tend to leak through the vent once underwater. I yse the MAX cases. They are much lighter than pelican. The max002 has enough space for 12s2p with esc inside case or alternatively 14S2P with esc outside. I added some extra protection on the clip side of things too.
This is an interesting thing. Ive too and fro’d about this so many times. On one hand yes, there are a few core products that would make efoils and assists so easy to build and configure for DEIY guys and more. But by releasing these products, then companies lose where they gain their profit margins. This of the FD assist housing. If that was freely available, all the other parts or easy to come by and assemble. But thats where their profit lies.
I agree its tiring, but thats where a product like FoilDash comes in. Its cheap enough and good quality and you’ll spend less time messing about. Or get one like that and then DIY on the side when you are free. Then eventually sell the comercial one.

Yeah an alloy case would be the ideal case as it would act as a huge heatsink - for battery and ESC. but the few I looked at were very heavy - mostly as they were cast aluminum and had too wide sides to house the seal.
Thinking out loud here… maybe there is a way to make one using something like a 3D printed lid and seal or cut the top off a camden box and glue to to the top of a custom fabricated aluminium container (sheet 2mm aluminium bent with 1 side seam and the base welded/brazed on).
If you are blending materials like that, you could start with a dry bag and modify it with a custom aluminum plate that can serve as a heat sync. Kind of like this project by @Joshi
Watch out for corrosion… unless you part is anodised, if you don’t clean/flush everything after each session, your aluminium box will get corroded and stop being waterproof… I learnt the hard way ![]()
